Marcia E. 'Marty' 'Madam' Blake

February 1, 1947 — November 12, 2010

Marcia Eusebia (Thomas) Blake, was born to John Haywood and Alice (Thomas) Carroll on February 1, 1947 in Chester, PA. On Friday, November 12th God dispatched his angels to her bedside to welcome her into her eternal resting place. Marcia was also known as Mom, Marty, Mom Mom Marcia, Cleatus, and her grandchildren affectionately called her Madam. She received her education through the Chester School System and graduated in 1965 from Chester High School. In 1966, she married George Blake and from this union they had two beautiful daughters: Tyrrea (Weedy) and Tia. Marcia left Chester, PA in 1993 to move closer to her children and grandchildren in Columbus, OH. She became a member of the Hosack Street Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She later joined Hope Christian Ministries, where she was a faithful and dedicated member. Always the life of the party, Marcia enjoyed making people laugh. She also enjoyed going to church, singing, dancing, doing word search puzzles, bragging on her grandkids, and spending time with family and friends. Marcia loved to travel as well. Her belief that there was a place for everything made her a meticulous housekeeper - you could eat off her floors and out of her windowsills. Marcia had a million dollar smile that was contagious. Marcia is preceded in death by her father John Haywood, mother Alice (Thomas) Carroll, stepfather Joseph Carroll, and brother Michael Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband George Blake; daughters Tyrrea (Carl) Byrd and Tia Blake; grandchildren, Tiahna Cephas, Kayla Byrd, Kyle Byrd, and Tyrrell Byrd; sister Renae Thomas; aunts Jennie Brooks and Arlene Toler; uncles Gene Thomas and Howard Haywood; special nephews, Shann (Shkeyda)Thomas, Michael (Nisha) Gordon, Mark (Caressa) Gordon, and Robert Wilson; special cousin Norma Glascoe; godchildren, Debra Hill, Eric Baldwin and Jamal Chavis; special friends, Ruth Baldwin, Vivian Chavis, Betty Johnson, Awilda Burgos, Laura Rideout, and Larry Craighead; caregiver Theresa Caudill; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and very dear friends. We cannot imagine our family without Madam. To say that we will miss her is a gross understatement. We must realize, however, that she belongs to God and was really on loan to us for just a little while. Reception: Hosack Street Baptist Church 1160 Watkins Road Columbus, OH 43207
