Margaret Ann Coles

Margaret A. Coles, also known as Mara Crisp of The Crisp Sisters of Springfield, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 30 at age 68 at Robert A. Cassidy Manor, 1370 Barnett Rd.; Columbus, OH 43227. Margaret retired as a nail technician from Coles Barber Shop; she had won 91h placed in the world for nail art in the 1980's. Mara Crisp preformed with long time friend Richard Pryor, on the Nick Clooney Show, and at Kitty's Show Bar. The Crisp Sisters also performed on the Pegwell Pete Show in Springfield, IL. They received numerous awards, including The Jazz Keynote Award, and had been inducted into The Columbus Senior Musicians Hall of Fame. She was one of the First Black District Managers for Avon Cosmetics; the former owner of Sheer Magic Beauty Salon; owner of Co-Mar Novelty Gift Shop; was a member of Club Ti-Amo; Chabamba Coiffures Hair Salon, and Chez-D'or beauty shop. She was extremely active in her community, teaching entrepreneurship, homeownership, had assisted at political rallies, and was a key promoter in the community. She loved to bowl and participated in four bowling leagues. Her love for arts, crafts and sewing have been shared with thousands. She was predeceased by her parents, Margie M. Crisp and John T. Crisp, Sr.; and brother, Donald W. Crisp. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Nicole (Lady Xtreme) Carter (Stephen); sons, Jerry R. Williams, and Kevin D. Williams (Tina) brothers, John T. Crisp, Jr.; William M. Crisp, and Melvin T. Crisp, all of Springfield, IL; sister, Dorothy Kimble, of Columbus, OH; grandsons; Stephen J. Carter, and Joshua Carter; granddaughters; Mistyisha Williams and Destiny Carter; great-granddaughter Raniya Bivens; nieces; Marlisha M. Gamer and Angela E. Garner; and other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many.
