Margarette, also known as “Margie” and “Noggin Nee’ was born May 8, 1943 in Twiggs County, Georgia. As a child, Margarette and family moved to Detroit, Michigan. Margarette was a graduate from Northern High School class of 1961. Thereafter, Margarette attended Wayne State University for 4 years with a major in English. With an avid focus in literature, Margarette loved to read and thrived in writing down her thoughts and feelings based on her experiences as a wife and mother. On June 20, 1964, Margarette married Earnest Pete where in their union had 2 children; Cassandra Annette Pete and Earnest Michael Pete. In 1972, Margarette and family moved to Columbus, Ohio. Margarette and Earnest had been married for 54 years. Margarette expressed a love in being a wife and a stay at home mother, but eventually built a supervisory career working for the State of Ohio for 30 years in the Department of Rehabilitation Services Commission. Before the popularity of Home & Garden Television (HGTV) reality shows, Margarette was notorious for doing home improvements for our family home. Margarette leaves a cherished memory for her husband and (2) children, along with her grandsons, Dimitri Robinson and Ian Pete; (2) surviving sisters, Joyce Brown and Indiana Avant; a multitude of nieces, and nephews; and son-in-law, Lenard Robinson. A Daughter’s Message: “I will never say goodbye because you will live forever in my heart and mind. Mommy, you are my MVP ( Most Valuable Player) who was the rock in our family.
