Marion Clegg

November 17, 1949 — July 25, 2024

Marion Lou Clegg was born November 17, 1949, in Eufaula, Alabama to the late Mr. Oscar Lee McCoy Sr. and Mrs. Eddie Lou Thomas McCoy Randell. She departed this earthly life on July 25, 2024, at the Legacy Westerville Nursing Facility following an extended illness.

Marion accepted Christ at an early age and joined Antioch Baptist Church in Eufaula, Alabama. She was educated in the Eufaula City school system and graduated from T.V. McCoo High School class of 1967.

After graduating from high school, she relocated to Columbus, OH. After relocating, she became a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and later joined First A.M.E. Zion where she served faithfully until her health declined. She served in various capacities during her membership at First A.M.E Zion in particularly the Usher Board. She was passionately dedicated to her community actively participating in feeding the homeless.

Marion held various occupations during her career, ultimately retiring from her favorite most successful role at Ross Laboratories after more than 25 years of service.

Prior to her illness, Marion enjoyed exercising, playing chair volleyball, dancing, listening to music, traveling, playing Pokeno on Saturdays with friends, watching TV (especially Family Feud), cleaning (keeping her house spotless) and cooking. She was well known for her famously delicious pumpkin rolls and mandarin orange cakes that were adored by all who had the pleasure of partaking them. She lived her life to the fullest and was a shining example of faith and kindness to all who had the pleasure to know and love her. She will be remembered for her “million”dollar smile, sweet spirit and easy going mannerism. One of her favorite sayings was…”don’t take any wooden nickels”

Marion was preceded in death by her sister Nellie B. Brown.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: a loving and devoted husband, Louis Clegg of Columbus, OH; three sons, Ricky (Anitra) Reid of Bowie, MD, Dedrick Reid and Christopher Charles of Columbus, OH; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one step son Louis Clegg Jr.; three sisters, Earnestine (Clarence) Bowen of Eufaula, AL; Perlina (Toronto) Thomas of Atlanta, GA; Connie Ige of Tallahassee, FL; one brother, Oscar Lee (Ethel) McCoy Jr. of Eufaula, AL; two brother-in-laws, Charles (Louise) Clegg and Joseph (Earlene) Clegg of Columbus, OH; eight nieces, six nephews, great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and friends.
