Marjorie Wade

January 29, 1945 — June 7, 2020

We are here today to show our love, admiration, and heartfelt respect for our dear Mother, Mother-in-Law, Wife, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend - Marjorie Wade. Marjorie Lockett Wade was born on January 29, 1945, in Limestone County, Alabama, and fell asleep in death on June 7, 2020, in Columbus, Ohio. She was one of ten children born to George Washington Lockett and Henrietta Lockett. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 54 years Jerry S. Wade. She was also preceded in death by the following siblings: George Edward Lockett, Roland Lockett, Aaron Lee Lockett, and Pauline Langdon. Marjorie was a graduate of Columbus Evening High School and went on to become an accomplished life insurance salesperson, a licensed child care provider, and a Huntington Bank employee. However, her primary vocation was being an active Jehovah's Witness, which she was for 49 years, having symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God on September 4, 1971. Marjorie loved her family and loved teaching them the wonderful truths found in God's Word the Bible. She also loved teaching others those truths and aided a number of individuals to the point of dedication and baptism. Marjorie was a very keen student of God's Word; she LOVED studying the Bible and had a passion for learning new things. She loved listening to Bible discourses, and would often have social gatherings just to listen to a Bible discourse. Marjorie was EXTREMELY generous, kind, and compassionate toward the needs of others. Marjorie also LOVED to dress up and had a very keen sense of style and flair. Even in her later years, she was known for being dressed from head to toe. She had a passion for wearing hats and was often known for the stylish headdresses she wore. Marjorie was also a very good dancer. In fact, one sibling said, "she would take over the dance floor at a party." Another sibling stated that Marjorie was "like a second mother". Her children describe Marjorie as a 'wonderful, nurturing mother', who was unwavering in her love for Jehovah and teaching them to love Him as well. Her children recall fondly the "big breakfast" she would make for them and their friends during sleepovers. Marjorie's unwavering faith in the promises found in the Bible and her unshakeable love for her God, Jehovah, gave her a resolution and firm conviction that lasted down to her final breath. Marjorie leaves behind her three children: LaTonya R. Wade, Darren (Sandra) Wade, Jerry (Cassandra) Wade, Jr., and Son-in-Law Gary E. Houpe, as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind five siblings: Eunice (Wendal) Bowan, James Lockett, Margaret Lockett, Carolyn Pryor, and Gregory Lockett. Marjorie longed for the day when Revelation 21:4 will be fulfilled in a literal way here on earth!
