Marnita Renee Asher

January 12, 1965 — March 28, 2019

On January 12, 1965, Marnita Renee Asher was born to Beverly Williams and Alfred Fair. She began talking at an early age and was taught to read as a toddler which added to her extensive vocabulary and reading comprehension. She would often entertain her younger siblings and herself by playing school where she would be the teacher and they her reluctant students. They would often walk to the library to read and explore whatever cultural experiences were available. Marnita accepted the Lord at an early age and spent her life trying to discover and live into her purpose. In Elementary and Junior High, her intellectual capacity had her labeled as Gifted and Talented and she was afforded an opportunity to attend the Taft School, a highly ranked Preparatory High School in Watertown, CT where she excelled academically. Due to homesickness, she returned home to complete her High School Studies and was a proud graduate of Columbus South High School in Columbus, OH. As a Queen Nurturer, Marnita always took on a protective role for her younger siblings. From helping them to read and excel academically, she was known for driving her chug a pug blue Gremlin to pick Kelley up from wherever she was not supposed to be hanging out. Folks from the neighborhood knew her car and would give Kelley heads up that her sister was there to pick her up. One of her part-time jobs in after High School was as a Nanny for the Schottenstein family. She would brag on her fancy trips and experiences with the family and how much she enjoyed being a part of nurture and development of the children. Marnita went on to attend and graduate from Denison University in Granville, Ohio where she met and developed friends who would become her life-timers. After graduation from college she excelled professionally in Management positions with Parenthesis Family Advocates and Youth Advocate Services. In recent years, she wanted to shift her work life and focus to more of a ministry component which is when she went to work for the West Ohio Conference Center as an Administrative Assistant. She was especially fond of Harris and Mallory Tay and their girls, Niecia and Stella. Although they adopted her as a grandma, she also adopted them and took on a nurturing role. She loved entertaining people with her stories and problem solving skills and could often be found talking about a work situation and her solution to making things better. Marnita loved her family and looked out for Kelley's kids, Shawn, Katrina, and Kyata and helped Kelley rear them. Ever the proud Auntie, she was always bragging about their lives and what she dreamed they could become. They each thought that they were her favorite and knew that she would move heaven and earth to help them in any way that she could. Marnita was a dreamer who had childhood dreams of training horses and being a painter. She enjoyed traveling and enjoying life, always eager for a new adventure. As an avid reader, she went on many journeys with words and illustrations. We imagine that now she is in heaven in awe of the vivid imagery of the Master and able to rest from her labors. She is preceded in death by parents ,Beverly Williams and Albert Fair; grandparents, Constance and Luther Good, and brother, Andre Williams. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sister, Kelley Asher, nieces Shawn Asher, Kyata Williams, and Katrina Williams; great nephew, Demario Santiago and great niece, Shayare Faulkner; aunt, Claudia (Charles) Ward-Russell; uncles, Gerald Asher and Ronald Asher all of Columbus, Ohio; favorite cousins Tonya Ward, Lesli Monique Green, Valencia Ward, Kyata Ward, Ebony Carter, and Trina Mackey; her K9 Kids, Corey and Luke whom she would want to be in good homes now that she is not able to care for them.
