Marquelis Shaquan 'Quel-Bandz' Barnes

Marquelis Shaquan Barnes was born October 24, 2000 in Columbus, Ohio. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and was a member of New Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Missionary Church in Pataskala. He was a rising senior at Focus Learning Academy. Marquelis, affectionately called Quel – Bandz, loved being outdoors cutting grass and doing yard work. He also enjoyed music, basketball, playing PS4 with his close friends, and being with his family. On June 29, 2017, at the age of 16, Marquelis was called home to rest safely in the arms of his Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Raymond and Lily Bea (nee Sparks) Stone, maternal great-great grandparents, Mellie Pearl Ward and William Noble, paternal grandmother Bernadette Teague, and paternal grandfather Bishop George Ware. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Christie Marie Barnes (DuJuan) of Columbus; father David Shaquan Burton (Lisa) of West Virginia; sister Kierra Barnes; brother Daquan Burton; stepsister Rhonda Brown; maternal grandfather Rev. William E. Barnes; maternal grandmother Lynn Marie Barnes (nee Stone); paternal grandmother Theresa Ware; aunts, Miko Burton and Sherona Teague; uncles, Maurice Barnes (Monique), Daroni Teague, both of Columbus, and Stanley Burton (Lisa) of California; godparents, Angela and Victor Walker of Columbus, and Sherry Woods of Dayton, OH; best friend Victor Walker; special father figure Ronald Brown; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. His kind, quiet, and gentle spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
