Martha Belle Dye Alexander was born March 25, 1924 in Portland, Tennessee, to Artif A. Dye and Sudie Mae Buntin Dye. At a very early age, Martha accepted Christ at Parkers Chapel Baptist Church in Portland, and was a current member of The New Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ in Columbus, Ohio. She was devoted to her Christian walk until her health became an issue. Martha lovingly and faithfully served as a church nurse, choir member, and in various other capacities within her church. Her love of God, her church, her family, and traveling were her strengths. Martha was loved and respected by many. She had a kind heart and an avid love for children. Martha had a flair for fashion and she loved gardening. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a zest for life. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Her favorite gospel song was Your Grace and Mercy. As a teenager, Martha was named Miss Strawberry Tennessee. On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, Martha went home to be with the Lord at The Laurels of Norworth Care Center. She is predeceased by both parents, her husband of 46 years, Walter Alexander, siblings, Margarite Coakley, James Russell Dye, Sr., Willmore Dye, Grace Dye, and Francis Lee Baker. Martha leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Billy Wayne (Jerri) Dye of Chandler, Arizona, Terrence Leon (Debra) Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ronald Keith (Tretta) Alexander of Pickerington, Ohio; daughters Diane Melinda Alexander of Centreville, Virginia and Victoria Deneene Alexander of Columbus, Ohio; loving and special sister Lucy Mae Bonds of Indianapolis, Indiana; devoted nephew James Russell Dye, Jr.; dedicated niece Stephanie Lynn Dye; special sister-like cousins, Jessie W. Edison, Addie Brewer, and Hallie M. Head; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A special Thank you to baby daughter Victoria, for her daily hands-on care of our beloved mother during their unique and special union.
