Marty Casteel Flood, Sr. born, August 26, 1955, to Esmond and Geneva Flood, in Charleston, West Virginia. He attended elementary and some of his junior high years in Charleston. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio where he attended Champion Junior High. He participated in little league football where he met some of his lifelong friends. He graduated from East High in 1973, where he participated in football, wrestling and baseball. After graduation, Marty attended Central State University. He worked at Pickaway Correctional Institution for the Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. While there, he was promoted to Captain. He also worked for DHL, Crowne Plaza and the Department of Parks and Recreation. His love of football started at an early age. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and OSU Buckeye fan. Additionally, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. In 1979, Marty married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis “Phylaine” Childs. Together they have two children, Marty, Jr. and Mara. Although a man of few words, he instilled in his family the importance of a good work ethic and taking responsibility. Marty is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Victor Flood and nephew, Desmond Allison. He leaves to cherish his memory, beloved wife of 41 years, Phylaine; children Marty Jr. and Mara; brother Esmond Jr.;, sisters-in-law, Althea Flood and Deborah (Arcenaux) Macklin; mother-in-law, Catherine Childs; aunts Rhetta (Ted) Rhea and Jean Wiggins of Charleston, WV; close friend, Gary Andrews; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Beginning at 1pm, doors will open for a walk-through viewing. For the mutual wellness and respect of those present, all visitors are asked to wear an appropriate face covering, apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer spray upon entry, and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. We encourage you to utilize Marty's memorial celebration wall to view his video tribute, send flowers and post an expression of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
