Dr. Marvin Green, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Born on September 22, 1934 to the late Lewis and Clarabelle Green in Urbana, Ohio. Dr. Green was preceded in death and happily married to his wife, Shirleen for 52 years. Dr. Green is survived by his loving daughter, Keli (Dr. Kenneth Chance); sons, Paul, Marvin II, Michael (Lynda); grandchildren, Marvin III, Michael Jr., Kennedy and Quinn. Additionally, he is survived by his wonderful sister in-law, Carole (Ralph) Smithers; brother in-law, Donald Conley, as well as many other relatives and friends. Dr. Green served in the U.S Army, was a proud graduate and class president of Bellefontaine High School, Wittenberg University and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. During his career, he served those in need through his core practice and Chief of Staff position at Ohio State University East (St. Anthony Hospital), but also as a physician at the Ohio State Penitentiary, and as a founding physician at Talbot Hall. Since 1974, the staff of Talbot Addiction Medicine have led thousands of Ohioans to recovery and an improved physical, mental, behavioral, emotional and spiritual well-being. Dr. Green was loved by his patients for the kind and thoughtful medical care he delivered, no matter their ability to pay. He was respected and revered by his colleagues for the support and mentorship he gave to those who were entering the medical field, as well as those who were attempting to grow thriving practices of their own. He served as a trustee of the American Heart Association and as a member of the Columbus Board of Health. He was a long-time member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church and a loyal member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
