MARVIN J. COLEMAN was born Friday, August 27, 1954, in Griffin, Georgia. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School, Class of 1971. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country from 1977-1988. Marvin worked in heating & cooling, and plumbing. He was employed as a driver and salesman at Eastway Supplies from 1985 -2000. Marvin was what you’d consider a “jack of all trades.” Junebug, as he was fondly called by family and friends, was most remembered by telling it like it was. He was a very hard-working man who provided for his family. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, listening to jazz, and skating. Marvin was a member of Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, Inc., where he was baptized and gave his life to Christ. Marvin was like a father to many. He leaves behind many cherished memories, great laughter, and life lessons. Surrounded by family, the Lord called Marvin home Sunday, July 24, 2022. He was sixty-seven years of age. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Laura-Annie Bailey Coleman, Sr.; daughter, Leah Rae Carpenter; sister, Elaine Spear; and grandson, Maurice Carpenter. He leaves behind his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Cecelia Gilbert-Coleman; sons, Marvqualin Gilbert Coleman and Ronald (Ashley) Gilbert; daughters, Rochelle (Robert) Matlock and Jonika Gilbert; twelve grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Matthew) Holston; brother-in-law, Glen Spear; lifetime friend, Luke “Sleepy” Calloway; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends.
