Mary Alice Pettis

September 5, 1953 — May 16, 2019

Mary Alice Miller was the fifth child born to JC and Mary Miller in Columbus Ohio on September 5, 1953. She attended Pilgrim Elementary School, Champion Junior High, and graduated from East High School in 1971. Later she attended Business school where she obtained an Associate of Arts degree. In 1969, Mary accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Gay St. Baptist Church, since then the church has been renamed Tabernacle Baptist Church. Once saved, the church became a dominating force in Mary’s life, where she ministered to others in various auxiliaries, committees, and out reach activities. This zest Mary acquired for Christian service came from the example set by her mother and grandmothers, who were also faithful members of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She attended Sunday school, worship service, and BYTU. These ministries help her grow in the Lord. Mary’s professional career spanned over 37 years. She was a conscious and professional worker for the state of Ohio as a Labor Market in Analyst for the Ohio job & family services department. Perhaps the most memorable thing about Mary is her loving, kind, generous, and humorous spirit. It seems that Mary loved everyone, especially her children, siblings, and other relatives and friends. She would never let you leave her house right now without trying to get you something. On May 16, 2019, Mary transitioned to Heaven. She is preceded in death by her mother Mary Frances Forte-Miller (1979), her father JC Miller(1986), her brother Richard David Miller(1999), Her sister Patricia Kay Miller-Riley (2004), and very close cousin Robin Keyes-Tynes (2018). Mary leaves to cherish her memory, two children, daughter, Alicia Frances Bradford; son, Reginald Jason Miller; grandson, Ellis Banks, II; sisters, and Annettia Reed-Lettsome (Gerwyn) Chicago, Illinois, Brenda Miller Stewart (Robert) Cincinnati, Ohio, Pamela Miller-Long (Clarence) Tacoma, Washington; Brothers, Dr. Marvin Lee Roy Miller Sr. (Grace), Percy Pannell Miller, Sr.; and true brother by love, Bishop Michael Cooper Sr. (Coby) Springfield, Ohio. In addition, Mary is also survived by her longtime childhood friend, Juanita want late, and a host of nieces nephews cousins and many other family members and friends.
