Mary Lela (Bryson) Hooper, 84, passed away December 28, 2010 at the Broadview Healthcare Center. Born October 11, 1926 to the late O’Nell and Beulah (Lowery) Lackey in Cullowhee, NC, Mary moved to Columbus with her family in 1955, where she worked many years in housekeeping at The Ohio State University Hospital and later at the St. Luke Convalescent Home as a cook. Preceded in death by her parents, husbands Henry Bryson and Maybon Hooper, son Vaughn Bryson, and grandchildren, Angela Stewart Maskey, Lakisha Bryson and Kenneth Bryson, Jr. Mary is survived by daughter Frances Alberta Stewart; sons, Charles (Viola) Bryson, John (Helen) Bryson, Kenneth (Ida) Bryson, and Roy Bryson; daughter-in-law Victoria Bryson; sister Ruth Lash; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, loving nieces and special friends Dorothy Zebbs and Mildred Mabry; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Broadview and Harbor Lights Hospice for all the loving care given to Mary. Homegoing Service 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery.
