Mary Jane Barbour was born September 19, 1915 in Columbus, Ohio to the late James Bethel and Essie Williams. She passed away at the age of 103 on December 3, 2018. As a child, Mary was a member of Centenary Methodist Church , where she attended Sunday School. Mary graduated from East High School in 1936. Mary was a distinguished employee of OSU Hospital. She was united in marriage and re-engaged to her former husband Bernard Jones Barbour. Mary was a pillar and mother of the Poindexter Projects on N. Ohio and Seymour Ave. Neighborhoods, where she saved the life of a boy who had been injured. She enjoyed piano, organ, violin, guitar, crocheting, sewing, singing, traveling, and silence. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and sons, Edmond J. Barbour, Frederick E. Barbour, Bernard K. Barbour, and Ronald D. Barbour. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Alfrieda A. Nichols; son, Stephen E. Barbour; grandsons, Mark A. Barbour and Bernard K. Barbour; granddaughters, Rhonda M. Barbour, Thea M (Seth) Barbour-Harris; great grand nephews & nieces, Andye’, Holliy, Clay, Brian, Calvin, and Karen; cousins, Carol Pope, Lois Leon, Jurnee, Bryce and Jackson; special nephews, Emil and Dewayne; second cousin, Maurice Pitts Johnson of North Carolina; many great and great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends
