Mary Madeline (Simpson) Tatum

Mary M. Tatum, Mag, went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2015. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she became a graduate of the Guilford County high school system and attended Bennett College. In 1955, she united in marriage to Charles W. Tatum, Sr. From that union, God blessed her with four beautiful children, Charles Jr., Armanda, Waymon, and Steven. Mary loved her family dearly, and worked with her hands from the depths of her heart to care for them, even until her passing. She enjoyed being with her loved ones and friends, especially those in the Barnett Plaza community, Mary never met anyone she considered to be a stranger. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Rosa Simpson, husband Charles W. Tatums Sr., daughter Armanda W. Tatum, son Waymon B. Tatum, grandson Demetrius L. Tatum, and fifteen siblings. She is survived by sons, Charles (Rhonda) W. Tatum, Jr. and Steven (Genise) W. Tatum; grandchildren, Toska Broadway and Gaven Tatum; great grandchild Brenden Jackson; sisters, Florence Robinson and Thelma Hatchett, both of Greensboro; daughter-in-law Tina Tatum; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary will be sorely missed. The family gives special thanks to Pickerington Nursing Care for all their love and professional care during Mary’s illness.
