AUTRY, Mary Yvonne, 79, went home to be with the Lord from the Mount Carmel West Trauma Center Monday, March 7, 2016. Mary was born to the late Harry and Odessa Autry in Fayetteville, NC on April 24, 1936. Mary and two of her siblings moved with their parents from North Carolina to Columbus, OH in 1945. Mary was a devoted Christ-centered disciple. She united with the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in 1959 under the pastorate of the late Dr. H. Beecher Hicks. Mary was very active in the ministries at Mt. Olivet, including the Girl Scouts, the Hospitality Ministry, the Christmas Toy Ministry and she served as a Trustee until her illness would no longer allow her to serve. Mary loved her church family and her pastor The Reverend Dr. Charles E. Booth. She continued to attend worship services throughout her illness. Mary was educated in the Columbus Public School System. She went to work for Anthem Blue Cross after graduating from Central High School. After working at Blue Cross a few years, Mary received an offer to work for the government at the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSq and worked there in different capacities until she retired in 1991. As a young woman, Mary was active in the Columbus community. She modeled for Ercell White Lewis. Mary traveled extensively and enjoyed every moment. Mary loved her family and would often take her nieces and nephew on long car trips to different recreation parks or just to different restaurants for an eating-out experience. Mary was a very generous and giving individual, especially when it came to her nieces and nephews. She participated in bowling leagues and she enjoyed playing bid whist. Mary was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and often took bus trips to the Browns' games. Mary was preceded in death by her father Harry L. Autry and her mother Mrs. Odessa Autry. She leaves to cherish her memory sisters Uffa (Guy) Schley, her caregivers, and Wilma Shaw; brother Harry L., Jr. (Isabelle) Autry and adopted brother Ronald Palmore; surrogate aunt Louretta Walker; nephew Curtis (Tara) Autry; nieces Karla (Craig) Palm, Karen Cartledge, Cheryl (Joel) Perry and Kysten Palmore; great nieces and nephews Kara and Craig Palm, Kierstin, Kyleah and Caleb Cartledge and Lauren Graham; very special friends Veda Norris, Jerry Robertson, Brenda White, Mary Moore, and Marjorie Banks; and many other relatives and friends. We extend a special thanks to Pastor Charles Booth and the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church family, Mary's family physician Dr. Sarah Jonaus of The Ohio State University Medical Center and the nurses at Mt. Carmel West Trauma Center - Brianna and Marcy. We are especially appreciative of the tender care that Mary received at ADENA day care
