Mattie Mae (Sullens) Gilbert

Mattie Mae Gilbert, 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2015. She was born June 20, 1935, to the union of the late George Sullens, Sr. and Lena Bell Bishop in Autauga County, Alabama. She was a faithful member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Lucent Technologies after 30 years. Preceded in death by husband Robert Gilbert and granddaughter Deanna Tolber. She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Darinka “Dee-Dee” Tolber, Ronda (Jerry) Hughes, and Cynthia Gilbert-Barnes (Byron); sister Willie Mary Andrews; brother George Sullens, Jr. (Marjorie); grandchildren, Nate (Anita), Brian and Brandy Tolber, Brandon, Jerry II, and Jason (Dianah) Hughes, Germonty Moody, Ciarra and Aaron Gilbert; great grandchildren, Destiny Tolber, Jaelin Gilbert and Trinity Harmon; aunts, Annie Fisher and Ronnie Jean Thomas; and a host of family and friends.
