Mattie P. (Preston) Morgan

Mattie P. Morgan, age 106, of Columbus, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 after a long illness at National Church Residences – Stygler Road. Mattie was born July 1, 1909 in Virginia. She was a lifetime member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she served with the Gospel Choir, the Adult Usher Board, and as a member of the Gleaners Sunday School class. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband Jay Morgan, parents, Kathryn L. and Maylon F. Russell, brothers, William J. (Eloise) Preston and Wilbert Lash, brother-in-law John H. Carter, Jr., and great nephew Michael A. Cleveland. She is survived by her sister Alma M. Carter; sister-in-law Martha S. Lash; niece Barbara Rhea; nephew John H. Carter, III; great nieces, Dawn R. (Roosevelt) Hayes and Adia N. (Ryan) Holmes; great niece-in-law Teresa R. Cleveland; great-great nieces, Kiana M. Cleveland, Reagan and Rylie Holmes; great-great nephew Ryan C. Holmes; and other friends.
