Maurice A. Thomas, was born on July 5, 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma; the second youngest of two sisters and four brothers. His mother died when Maurice was just three years old, and his older siblings helped raise him. Maurice joined the United States Army when he was 17 years old. He served in the Korean War as a military police and was injured by shrapnel when his Jeep was hit by explosives. After returning home from the service, Maurice worked as a truck driver; for the US Postal Service and on the assembly line at Westinghouse. Maurice passed away on July 11, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna M. Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Maurice V. (Yvonne) Thomas, Vanessa E. Thomas and Wayne A. (Debra) Thomas; six grandchildren; brother, Aurealius Thomas and other family members and friends.
