Mazie Hanna was born February 11, 1928 to James and Rosie Keaton in Camilla, Georgia. She has been a resident of Columbus, Ohio since 1946. She was Head Chef at The Ohio State University and retired after more than thirty years of service. Mazie was a woman of incredible faith, strength and determination. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards, traveling and singing gospel music. A former member of Refuge Baptist Church, Mazie was a charter member of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and served as the first treasurer of the church. On October 10, 2018, at the age of 90, Mazie transitioned peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father to receive her heavenly wings. In addition to her parents, Mazie was preceded in death by her brothers, James and William Keaton, sisters, Flossie Rackley, Mattie Jones, Mamie Toland and Annabelle Keaton, as well as her husband, John H. Hanna, to whom she had been united in holy matrimony since 1986. Mazie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Sylvia (Sherman) Dixon; sister Odessa (Hilton) Carter; brother Willie Keaton; grandchildren, Andre and Chantel Keaton; great grandchildren, Zayveon Wilson and Khorie Keaton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Genevieve Kelley.
