Michael Duane Wilson

Michael Duane Wilson was born to Marlene Bullock (Kelley) on October 29, 1958, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, on a crisp autumn day. Michael relocated to Chicago, IL as a child, where he raised with his younger siblings before returning to Columbus, OH where he studied at The Ohio State University, and would reside until his untimely passing on September 21, 2020. He married his wife and partner, Lytoi Wilson, in May of 2014, in an intimate ceremony performed by Aunt Marilyn and witnessed by family. Michael spent a majority of his career in Sales and Marketing with a recent focus in cyber security, but his passion belonged to the Martial Arts. Michael trained at Rick Moore Academy of Martial Arts under Grandmaster Rick Moore for 43 years. In 2018, he was inducted into the into the Bruce Lee Hall of Fame, and he achieved his Kudan 9th degree in Matsubayashi-Ryu Shorin-Ryu in January 2020. Michael was a state, national, and world champion. He taught thousands and promoted hundreds in his many years as Sensei. He touched and changed many lives with his knowledge of the Arts. Outside of being known as Master Wilson, Michael was a loving father, husband and known to be a warrior, protector, and leader among his family and friends. In his leisure time Michael enjoyed hosting family and friends at his home for food and entertainment, traveling, weaponry practice, OSU football, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Andrew Kelley and grandmother, Mildred Ruth Kelley (Jackson). Michael is survived in death by his loving wife of 6 years, Lytoi Wilson (Holcombe); mother, Marlene Bullock (Kelley); sister, Victoria Richardson (Wilson); brothers, Glenn Wilson, Blyden Shanklin and Malik Smith; children, Chanel Smith (Pete), Sean Wilson, Taryn Wilson, Dominic Stephens (Derronisha), Marlee Wilson, Reece Wilson, Rayne Wilson and Marcellus Wilson; grandchildren, Kourtnie Nunley, Kamille Smith, Elijah Wilson, Tahani Stephens and Kaiden Smith; and a host of family and friends.

Between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., doors will open for a walk-through viewing with staggered admission of up to 25 people at a time. For the mutual wellness and respect of those present, all visitors must wear an appropriate face covering, apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer spray upon entry, and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. We encourage you to utilize Michael’s memorial celebration wall to view his video tribute, send flowers, and share your expressions of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
