Michael Reece Fisher was born September 5, 1938, in Columbus Ohio, to Vera (Williams) and Reece Fisher. He was a graduate of East High School where he excelled academically, played football, and ran track. He went on to attend The Ohio State University, for two years, where he majored in Business, and participated in the R.O.T.C. program. On Friday, July 14, 1961, Michael married Otha Jean Bolden, and to this union three daughters were born. In 1962, he began employment with Western Electric (which became ATT, then Lucent), and retired in 2000, after thirty-eight years of service. He was an avid bowler with ABT and, over the years, participated in several bowling leagues and tournaments throughout the city of Columbus and the state of Ohio. He bowled a perfect game more than once in his career. He enjoyed drawing and sketch art, and was a talented mechanic and auto body repairman, who once attempted to start a business with his good friend, Everett Sanders. Michael loved to read, had a thirst for knowledge, and was a natural health enthusiast. He loved the Cleveland Browns. Michael sang as a charter member of the Men’s Chorus, and served as a trustee at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, where he attended throughout his life, until his health declined. He was a loving son, caring brother, devoted husband, and dedicated father. On Thursday, January 7, 2016, after 77 years (four months, and 2 days), Michael went home to be with the Lord, while at his home and surrounded by family. His parents preceded him in death. Michael is survived by his loving wife Otha Jean Fisher; daughters, Michelle Fisher, Lynda Fisher (who was also his devoted caregiver), and Tanya (Anthony) Washington, all of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Caleb J.M. Fisher-Boone, Ernest E. Washington, and Barbara Aleah C. Washington; sister Beesigye (Sokoto) Fulani of Columbus, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friend Juan Lawson.
