Mildred Forte

Mildred Louella Forte’, daughter of the late Frank and Ida Bell (Johnson) Hungerford, was born on August 15,1929 in Grindstone, Pennsylvania.

She departed this life on Monday, December 30,2024, at McNaughten Pointe Nursing Home in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to both parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Rev. Benjamin H.L. Forte’ Sr., daughters Beatrice C. Edwards and Major Jeanie M. Forte’; her sisters, Gertrude Reddix, Victoria Pennington, Georgetta M. Frye, Henrietta Hungerford, Frankie Belle Hungerford; brothers; Frank A. Hungerford, William J. Hungerford, John H. Hungerford, George Hungerford, Archie R. Hungerford, Herbert Hungerford.

Mildred was a faithful wife and a loving mother, sister, and friend. A loyal servant of God who loved to share the love of Jesus Christ through singing and teaching God’s Word. She was employed by R.G. Barry Corporation and Retired from Mount Carmel East Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide.

Mildred is survived by her children; Mildred L. Thomas (David Lester) of Columbus, Ohio, Benjamin H.L. Forte’ Jr. (Joyce) of Durham, North Carolina, Benzetta Forte’ of Columbus, Ohio, Dytanion E. Forte’ Sr. (Marcelyn E.) of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Sarah Sanders of Grindstone, Pennsylvania, Cynthia R. Cherry of Columbus, Ohio. Grandchildren; Felicia A. Gilliam; Dytanion E. Forte Jr. (Tameka), Dametrious Forte’ Sr. (Maria), Alecia C. Bethea (Brian), Nicole R. Ransom, Stanley Ransom Jr. (Anitra), Jason E. Thomas (Rita), Johnathan B. Thomas (Kathleen), Krystal Lee Hill (Terrence L.), Ashley D. Forte’, Ronald Vaughn. Great-grandchildren; Great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 from 9:00 am -10:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 1370 East Main Street Columbus, Ohio 43205. Burial will process to Northlawn Memory Gardens, Westerville, Ohio.
