Minnie (Jones) Gilbert

Minnie Jones Gilbert was born April 4, 1932 to Lewis Jones, Sr. and Lela Sharp Jones in Portsmouth, Ohio. In her youth, she sang in her church choir every Sunday. She attended worship services at St. Thomas Baptist Church and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star fraternal organization. For many years, Minnie was employed as a custodian and provided cleaning services for various office buildings throughout the city. On Friday, July 24, 2015, Minnie Jones Gilbert was called home to rest with the Lord while at Isabelle Ridgway Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Delores Winston, and sister Mammie. She is survived by her three daughters, Sharon Anderson, Sylvia Gilbert, and Sheila Stevens; seven grandchildren, Leila, Jolita, Leslie, Shawn, Sylita, Karell, and Jordan; twelve great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
