Brown, Modestine E. Sunrise October 5, 1927; Sunset December 31, 2020 Modestine was born in Greenville, SC and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1937. A 1945 graduate of East High School, Modestine attended The Ohio State University and became a registered EEG Technologist. Mott spent 40 years with the OSU Medical Department as a Biochemistry Research Assistant working alongside leading doctors advancing the use of EEG technology. She was published in several medical journal articles in the mid-1980s. Mott was the President of the Ohio Society of EEG Technologists from 1979-1981 and the Program Chairperson of the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists in 1984. Modestine enjoyed boating life and was a founding member of the Battery Park Yacht Club Auxiliary. She was a passionate gardener, a meticulous housekeeper, a talented cook, and a true friend. Mott was a woman of dignity and elegance. She spent 12 years with her beloved Yorkie, Bailey Brown IV. She was a connoisseur of fine scotch and smooth jazz. Mott is preceded in death by her parents Allen Mortimer Brown and Addie Lee Hamburg Brown Rutherford, infant brother Thomas M. Brown, and step-father Zack Rutherford. She leaves behind several dear friends and family – Anita Nesmith of Gahanna Ohio, Gloria Bent of Columbia SC, Dr Marcelle & Sheryl Hamburg, Nashville TN, Roxanne & Ron Francis of Cramerton NC, Michael Hughes, Tracy Garrett, Charlotte Mohr, Jessica Garrett of Columbus and many others. The family would like to thank the staff at Westminster Thurber for their kindness and support they gave Mott over the last 4 years. Per her request, Mott did not wish a service. Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Home at 720 E Long St cared for her cremation and she will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery next to Addie and Zack.
