JOHNNIE MAE MILLS was born in Columbus, Ohio, Wednesday, May 17, 1950, to James R. and Edna F. Mills. She was a 1968 graduate of Linden McKinley High School. Johnnie loved the Lord and was an active member of New Haven Church. Johnnie was employed with Blue Shield Blue Cross for more than twenty-six years, beginning at age eighteen until 1994. After working at Cigna Healthcare for several years, she began employment at The OSU Wexner Medical Center in 2003 and was currently employed with OSU at the time of her death. Johnnie was a devoted employee and was loved by all her coworkers. Always willing to answer the call for assistance, Johnnie was a loyal and dependable volunteer at OSU charity walks, Community Health Days, and OSU football games. Anyone who knew her, loved Johnnie for her kindness, sincerity, and caring ways. She was a loving mother, not only to her children, but she was a mother figure to her entire family. An amazing woman, Johnnie had a heart full of gold. Johnnie was very outgoing, loved to talk, and could shop until she dropped. After a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, Johnnie Mae Mills was called from labor to reward and departed this earth for her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. She was blessed with seventy-two years of life. In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by her two brothers, Donald Mills and Ronald Mills and her sister, Ladonna Mills. Johnnie is survived by her loving children, Bryan L. Mills and Alysia J. Starks, along with her companion, Bruce D. Starks. She leaves to relish in her memory and love her grandchildren, Kelsie Mills, John Glover IV, and Jaion Glover; her newest granddaughter, named in her honor, Journi Mae Glover; her sisters, Patricia (Michael) Welch and Ezerine (Charles) Thomas; brother, Steve (Christine) Mills; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family from Dickson, Tennessee, other family members, and dear friends; including special and beloved friends, Shirley Cofer, Jomarge Noel, Christine Daniels, and Rida Gibson, who all will miss her dearly. Johnnie went in peace with love in her heart and trust in her Lord.
