Myrtice Busby

Myrtice Bell (Newton) Busby was born on April 28,1934 in Forsyth Georgia to Willis Newton and Ethel Newton. Myrtice is the 5th child of 6 siblings. Myrtice departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday September 15, 2024 at her residence in Columbus Ohio. She was surrounded by her family. Her final destination is heaven bound, peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Myrtice was preceded in death by her parents the late Willis and Ethel Newton, son, Larry James Busby, brother,James Willis Newton, 3 sisters; Effie Lee Keith, Mildred Viola Thompson, all of Columbus Ohio, Mrs. Willie B. White of Forsyth Georgia.


Myrtice and family moved from Forsyth Georgia aged 18, to Columbus Ohio. She attended West High School her senior year. Myrtice was a member of Wayne at Wayne Ave Church of God where she sang in the choir. Her favorite gospel songs are "How Great Thou Art”, “ Amazing Grace”, “ What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, "Blessed Assurance,” and many more. Myrtice enjoyed watching Christian TV, ministers are Oral Roberts and John Hagee.


In May of 1957 Myrtice married Lawrence Busby. There were five children born to this union; three sons and two daughters. Myrtice enjoys taking care of others. June 1980, Myrtice attended Scott Vocational Training School where she received her Certificate in Direct Patient Care. Myrtice utilized her 15 yrs knowledge and skills, she was employed with We Care Nursing home, and few other Nursing Facilities in Columbus, she also was employed with Heinzerling Memorial Foundation, Saint Rita Nursing home, WeCare June 1995 Myrtice received employee of the month. Myrtice's most recent employment was in retail as a part time stock worker at the Big Lot store. Due to health complications, Mytice was no longer able to work outside her home. That did not stop mom, she babysat many families children in the neighborhood and communities.


Myrtice's faith in God was an inspiration to many friends and family. She was a kind hearted person, doing whatever she could to help. Myrtice is a devoted mother, dedicated to her family, raising her children and grandchildren, instilling them bible principles and truths. A green thumb mother. who brought lifeless plants back to life. Her summer pastime hobby is gardening. Growing her favorite collard green, tomatoes, cucumbers. She enjoyed caning vegetables and herbs to prepare for the fall harvest and holiday season. Thanksgiving was mom’s favorite holiday, mom says “ to reflect on God's blessing, another year together with family and friends”.


Myrtice leaves to cherish her memory are: her brother, Grady Newton, two daughters, Rose (Robert) Williams of Reynoldsburg Ohio, Kathryn Busby, of Columbus, Oh, her two sons, Lloyd Busby, Floyd Busby, of Columbus Oh, her three granddaughters, Jane’e Williams, of Columbus, Oh, Micah Williams, of Westerville Oh, Syriah Williams of Reynoldsburg, Oh, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special neighbors, special friends and her special caregiver Ms. Becky Nutt. We loved her, but we know that God loved her best. God took our mother home, into His arms, held her till we got there.
