Myrtle (Scott) Marvel was born, March 27th, 1923, to Fannie (Walker) Scott and Jack Scott. She was the middle sibling of 3 daughters, Rubena, Myrtle, Irene Scott. Myrtle was born is Mayberry, West Virginia then moved to Mallory West Virginia. Upon the death of her mother, they moved to Columbus Ohio. Myrtle graduated from Central High School in Columbus, Ohio. After graduation, Myrtle obtained a federal job and moved to Dayton, Ohio to work at Wright Patterson Airforce Base. Later, Myrtle moved to Chicago, Illinois and got a job working for the Social Security Administration as an administrative assistant to the judges and remained in this position until her retirement. In 1949, Myrtle met her husband Charles Marvel, the love of her life. They both were members of a choral group. In October of 1955, they were joined in marriage at Holy Angel’s Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois. Myrtle was a member of many choral groups that performed around Chicago and a seasoned ticket holder to the Chicago Lyric Opera Company. Myrtle was an avid traveler of the world. She’s been to 5 continents and was a diamond member of Carnival Cruises which means she had to have cruised at least 80 times. Myrtle was called to her eternal home on August 11, 2022. She’s survived by her son, Charles W. Marvel Jr. of Columbus Ohio, sister Irene Berry and a host of nieces, and nephews, who loved her dearly.
