Naomi Dulaney

February 9, 1935 — October 21, 2020

Naomi Dulaney was born on February 9, 1935 in Camden, Alabama to Felix and Kate Gullett. There, she met and married the love of her life, Albert Dulaney. In 1952, they moved to Columbus, Ohio and settled into the “Fly Town” neighborhood where they successfully raised their six children and were married for 60 years. Naomi and her husband were pillars of the community. She was a longtime member of 7th Avenue Community Missionary Baptist Church where she dutifully served as a Deaconess for more than 40 years. She also faithfully served in the Missionary and Nurses ministry. She loved the Lord and studied the scripture daily. Mrs. Dulaney had a long, 36-year career with the Columbus Public School District, where she taught and helped countless children until she retired in June 2004. During her tenure, she worked at First Avenue Elementary, Thurber Elementary, Fifth Avenue Elementary, and Everett Middle School. Beloved by her students, she was recognized as a passionate advocate for the education and development of children. She received several awards and commendations for her advocacy. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and developing a special bond with each of them. Not only did she make a lasting impression on her family- numerous friends, neighbors and a host of others cherished being in her company and were touched by her kind, loving heart. She was always willing to share a meal, lend a helping hand or just be a listening ear. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and watching the NBA (especially LeBron James and the Cavaliers)! She leaves her children, Angela, Albert Jr. (Yvonne), Michael (Heny), Keith (Carmen), Kevin (Tammie) and Darrell (Marta); sister-in-law, Marnette Gullett of Cleveland, Ohio and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family and friends to cherish fond memories.
