Naomi Ruth Reeves, age 84, departed from this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2015, in her home where she was well taken care of by family members in her later years of life. She was born in 1930 to Edward McBride and Viola Margaret Smith, in Wellsburg, West Virginia. Naomi graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsborough, Ohio. She was a faithful member of End Time Apostolic Christian Holiness Church, where she worshipped regularly until her health no longer permitted her to attend. Naomi worked for the Columbus Public Schools as an Educational Aide starting at Windsor Elementary School. She later became an Educational Aide who had supervision over the library at McGuffey Elementary/High School until retirement. She was the president of the Windsor Area Council where she worked in the community with Mr. John Maloney and Mrs. Judith Stattmiller for a number of years, and Mr. Clarence Lumpkin who also worked on the Windsor Area Council. She, at times, worked with St. Stevens Community House when they first opened their doors on the corner of Windsor and Brooks. Naomi was a reservoir of wisdom to those around her and a force for good in her community. She raised 10 children as a single parent and her children never went without food, shelter or clothing. She believed in equipping her children and preparing them for the rigors of life. She was a gem of a mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. She was a mother and help to those younger women in the neighborhood always helping with advice when she could. Besides her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Buster Smith, John Smith, and Leroy Smith, her cherished granddaughter Danielle Reeves, granddaughter Aretha M. McCauley. She is survived by her children, Sheila M. Smith, Ray H. McCauley, Keith (Laurie) McCauley, Derrick A. (Sherita) Reeves, Randall L. Reeves, Tamara Scott, Belinda L. (Billy) Coffman, Byron (Loretta) Reeves, Mimi M. Morris, and Tonya R. Reeves; sisters, Katherine Ethellene Booth and Queenester L. (Honey) Hawkins; brother, Nathaniel (Bubby) Smith; 127 grandchildren and great grandchildren combined; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, the Ohio Hospice Staff, the nurses and staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital, the staff at End Time, and all of the friends who took time to show their love and concern.
