Nathan 'Nate' Napier

Nathan Napier was born March 13, 1940 in Decatur, Alabama. He was the oldest of six children. When he was fourteen years old, Nathan and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, and his White Castle coffee with a little cream and several sugars. In earlier times, Nathan and Betty would travel to various casinos which they both enjoyed. Nathan worked for Riverside Methodist Hospital, from which he retired in the early 1990’s. On December 19, 2015, at 2:50 p.m., Nathan Napier was called home while at Mt. Carmel Hospital East, with his loving and very devoted wife at his bedside. He was 75 years old. Nathan was preceded in death by his daughter Naketria Napier, father Oscar Napier, mother Annie Pearl Adams, stepfather Ned Adams, Sr., brother Buster Batts, Jr., and Manuel Valentine, who he called “Pops”. Those who remain to cherish memories of Nathan include his loving wife, Betty Napier; daughters, Twyla Harriston, Lelia (Wayne) Wright, and Tammy Speckman; sons, Rodney Kennedy and Tony Duncan; sisters, Angel Carroll and Lisa (Paul) Suggs; brother Ned Adams, Jr. (Lydia); stepsisters and stepbrothers in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Nathan will be sorely missed.
