Nelson Davis Lynch, age 86, of Columbus Ohio, passed away on October 26, 2016. Born January 7, 1930, to the late Herston and Beadie Lynch. Nelson was a graduate of East High School in 1948 and was drafted into the US Army in 1951, during the Korean War. He served in Mannheim, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was united in marriage to Mary Byrd Lynch and in this union they had two children, Marie and Nathan. He used his G.I. Bill and went to Franklin University and majored in Business and Accounting. He retired from the DCSC in 1986 following 34 years of service; and worked as a Head Custodian at Ross Labs and the OEA Building for the City Janitorial Company for 14 years. He loved sports, especially the OSU Buckeyes Football and Basketball Teams. He was an avid bowler, as well as, having a long softball career, pitching for the DCSC and Buckeye, and Keever Starch Factory teams. He loved pitching horseshoes, marbles, swimming, playing pool, ping pong, tennis and Golden Glove Boxer. He loved to write poetry and plants flowers and vegetables. He was an active member of the Hosack Baptist Church, welcoming guests for over 40 years. He was active in the Male Chorus, Sanctuary Ensemble, Sunday School, HUB, Men's Ministry and Vacation Bible School. He was also an active member of the Golden Hearts Charitable Club and the Capital University Parents Club. In addition to his parents, Nelson is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Byrd) Lynch; infant children, Nelson and Neil Lynch; brother, Amos Lynch, (infant brothers) Herston Lynch, Jr, Franklin Lynch and (infant sister),Ernestine Lynch; brothers-in-law, Luther Byrd, Charles, Byrd, Kenneth Byrd, William Kidd, Walter Pate, Ralph Bonner; sisters-in-law, Jeri Lynch, Patricia Byrd, Grace Byrd, Jean Byrd, Katherine Kidd, Margaret Byrd and infant Marilyn Byrd; Survived by his daughter, Marie Lynch Hunter; former son-in-law, Charles; son, Nathan Lynch; grandchildren, Melanie (Marlon) and Chad (fiancé Appollonia); great grandchildren, Mariah, Marquis, Marquel, Meliyah, Ra'Chad, Elijah, Noah, Chad Jr., Aniyah, Chyla, Joreah, and De'ajanae; sister, Jevelyn Bonner; brothers, Orville (Gwen) Lynch, David (Elaine) Lynch, Hugh (Jeanette) Lynch; brother-in-law, Richard (Cheryl) Byrd; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Byrd, Carolyn Byrd, and Yvonne (Byrd) Pate; foster daughter, Antoinnette; and god-daughter, Jennifer McKinney; special friend, Charlina Hubbard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends
