Nobie Lee Hampton, 74, departed this life Sunday, December 26, 2010. Born in Palestine, Arkansas, Nobie was an honors student and member of the Future Homemakers of America, Student Council, Honor Society, and captain of the girls’ basketball and softball teams. She attended Lane College in Tennessee and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years at Mt. Carmel Hospital West. Nobie was an officer in the Neighborhood Senior Citizen Club and was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she served on the usher and hospitality ministries. Preceded in death by parents Mosella Patterson Thomas and Joseph Hebron Thomas, sister Mary Lee Nelson, and brother B.J. Thomas. Survived by lifelong friend and husband John William Hampton, Sr.; children, Jacqueline Maurice Morris, Chandra Faye Hampton, John William Hampton, Jr., Cherri Rene Hampton, Jonathan W. (Tsi Tsi) Hampton, and Robert Shawn Dion (Tonisia) Hampton; brother Frank Thomas; sister Dorsie Lee Womack; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members and friends. Homegoing Celebration 11 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the start of service. Pastor Victor M. Davis, officiating. Interment Northlawn Memory Gardens.
