Norieka Froe (Nelson), affectionately known as Rick, age 94, was born May 19, 1926 in Radford Virginia. She was called home on October 13, 2020 at her residence. At a young age her family moved to Bluefield West Virginia. Norieka graduated from Park Central High School. In 1952, she graduated from Bluefield State College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. An advocate for education, she was an elementary school teacher for over thirty years and was a mentor to many youth in the community. She touched the lives of many thru her profession and community service. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Norieka accepted Christ at a young age and was a long- time member of Mt Zion Baptist Church and John Stewart United Methodist Church in Bluefield before relocating to Columbus in 2009. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, entertaining, and cooking. Her hospitality was unmatched. She sat a table fit for a king. Norieka had a very colorful personality and never met a stranger. Requested or not, she always shared her advice and wisdom. She always emphasized education and saving your money. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Dreyfus Froe; parents, Robert Hue and Mamie Nelson; and sisters, Darnella Hamiter, Harriet Austin, Mamie Marie Points, Edith Patterson, Mae Stillwell, and Channie Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving devoted niece and caregiver, Betty Jo Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Beginning at 9am, doors will open for a walk-through viewing with staggered admission. For the mutual wellness and respect of those present, all visitors are asked to wear an appropriate face covering, apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer spray upon entry, and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. We encourage you to utilize Norieka's memorial celebration wall to view her service via live webcast, send flowers and post an expression of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
