Norma Jean Edwards Penn was born May 22, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. She grew up in Urbancrest, Ohio, where she attended Urbancrest Elementary, Brook Park Middle School, and Grove City High School. She was also a longtime, faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years, Norma worked in various capacities, including her employment at PH Hydraulics Automation, Inc., where she worked as a Press Operator/Supervisor, Robertshaw Controls Company, Monterey Care Center, as well as a local night club venue called The West Side Story. On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the age of 64, Norma passed away while at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She was preceded in death by her mother, Christine M. Griffin Lovett, father, James E. Williams, foster parents, Ruth Edwards and Navarro Edwards, Sr., foster siblings, Regina Evans and John Epley, and great grandson, Malachi Bowers, Jr. Norma leaves to cherish her life's memories, three children, Jason P. Jackson, Valerie R. Edwards, and Nakia H. Johnson; grandchildren, Navarro III, Dametrious, Jaquilla, Kenya, Sheridan, Ja'Sean, Dahlia, Chavez, Sakima, Dibaji, David, and Xavier; 13 great grandchildren; former husbands, James W. Johnson, Jr. and Rockford Penn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
