Ollie Mae Kirkland, age 88, of Columbus, passed away Friday October 9, 2020 at Mount Carmel East Hospital after a short illness. Born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 14, 1931, Ms. Kirkland moved to Columbus in 1951, and worked in various occupations through the years: as a nurse’s aide at OSU Hospital; a clerk for the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; and working for nineteen years as a Medical Records Specialist with Nationwide Children’s Homecare. Ms. Kirkland’s interests were reading, cooking, gardening, crafting, watching movies, music, keeping up on current events, and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Kirkland was preceded in death by her son, Theodore Kirkland; ex-husband, Eugene Montgomery; sisters Virginia Ridgeway, Jessie Mae Carter, Pledie King, and brother Andrew Kirkland. She leaves behind to cherish her memory sons Eugene A. and Bryan K. Kirkland; sisters Betty Ann Kirkland and Norrie Neeley; nephews Andrew (Drew) Kirkland, Michael, DeWayne, and Milbert Neeley, Ronald Carter and Kevin Ridgeway; nieces Karen Ridgeway, Sheila King, and Jeannette and Sabrina Carter; brother-in-law Clinton Carter; and many, many friends and extended family.

Beginning at 9am, doors will open for a walk-through viewing. For the mutual wellness and respect of those present, all visitors are asked to wear an appropriate face covering, apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer spray upon entry, and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. We encourage you to utilize Ollie's memorial celebration wall to send flowers and post an expression of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
