Pate Morris Hairston was born on January 31, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Columbus Public schools where he graduated from North High School in 1976. He also attended Mount Saint Mary’s College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pate was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church having been baptized at the age of 12. Pate was a retired disabled veteran having served in the United States Army. Pate was very proud of his military service and received the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, Rifle M-16 Expert Qual Badge, and the Hand Grenade Expert Qual Badge. He served as the State Service Officer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars representing veterans in the State of Ohio. He was also a member of VFW Post 3764 here in Columbus, Ohio. On April 17, 2019 Pate was called home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Josephine Gray, uncles Joe Marshall Hairston and John W. Baker, and his niece Amber N. Evans. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Bernice Hairston Johnson and father William L Johnson, Sister Wanda L. Hairston, Brother Michael M. Johnson, and aunt Lillie Turner Tanyhill, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
