Paul Menefield was born October 26, 1928 to Major Menefield and Elvira Moore Menefield in Merrimac, West Virginia. After attending public school, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force as a Tuskegee Airmen during World War and also in the Korean Conflict. Paul was united in holy matrimony to Ernestine Carter on September24, 1954. To this union was born three children. He retired from Local 423 as a Labor Construction supervisor. He enjoyed sports, fishing, gardening, travel and the study of black history. Paul joined Rhema Christian Center on June 15, 1986 under the pastoral care of Dr. La Fayette Scales. He served in the Interfaith Volunteer Caregiver's program for Northeast Columbus, Rhema Christian Center Men's Fellowship, and as a Security officer. Paul departed this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth Starling and his brothers, Essix, Major and Jonathan. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 59 years, Ernestine; two sons, Paul Stephen, Kevin Scott (Yvonne) and one daughter, Marissa Sue (John W) Stevenson; two sisters, Martha Menefield and Mary Alice Menefield; former daughter-in-law, Robin Sinkler; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including the Rhema Christian Center family.
