Pedro C. Rodriguez-Deana was born May 30, 1927 to Isabel Deana and Jose Rodriguez in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. As a young man, Pedro joined the United States Army, proudly serving as a Technical Sergeant with the 65th Infantry during the Korean Conflict. Among his many commendations and decorations were the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. In September 1952, Pedro was awarded an Honorable Discharge from active duty service. Pedro was an avid fan of the New York Mets and Cleveland Indians major league baseball teams. A animal lover with a heart for charitable giving, Pedro was a long standing member of the ASPCA, World Wildlife Fund, and National Wildlife Federation. He was also a proud and faithful supporter of the Paralyzed Veterans Association and St. Jude's Hospital. A long time resident of Bronx, New York, Pedro and his wife, Juanita, relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 1992 to be closer to family. Pedro C. Rodriguez-Deana departed this life peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, his son Jose Luis, and most recently, his beloved wife, Juanita, who departed this earthly life in 2007. He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters Virginia (Rigo) Rose and Cynthia (Craig) Tatum, both of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Marcial P. (Joni) Martinez of Arizona, Eddi J. (Rick) Martinez of New Mexico, Alejandro Williamson and Anjelica Williamson, both of Columbus, Ohio; seven great grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
