Phyllis Ann Stephens, age 76, was born Saturday, April 29, 1944, to the late Robert and Dorothy (Miller) Peck-Perdue in Columbus, OH. The Lord called for her, peacefully, at home on, December 12, 2020, after enduring many years of health issues. Phyllis attended East High School and later earned her GED. She held jobs as a waitress and bartender before landing her final position as a medical claim processor at Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 where she would retire in 2004 after 26 years. She loved to read books, magazines, and the newspaper working the crossword puzzles every day. In her earlier years, she was an avid card player mastering spades, euchre, and her favorite, bid whist where she would slap the cards on the table when she had a good hand! She was also an animal lover caring for many pets over the years: Baron, Ginger, Boomer, Teddy, Chopper, Kizzy, her beloved Max, and grand-pups, Sammy, Sophie, Maddox, and Riddick. Phyllis bore her son, Earl Saunders Jr., at a young age. Later, she met and married, Robert Griffin, and to this union her daughter, Michelle was born. Phyllis loved her family dearly and always enjoyed spending time with them at family dinners and holiday gatherings. She especially enjoyed attending her grandsons’ football games where she was the LOUDEST person cheering for them! It did not matter how much pain she was in; nothing would keep her from being with her family. In her final years, she enjoyed having her two great grandchildren visit who always brought joy and happiness to her heart. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Robert Peck; mother, Dorothy Perdue; first husband, Robert Griffin; long-time companion, Donald Griffin; second husband, John Stephens; and nephew, Denny Wood. Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory, son, Earl Saunders Jr.; daughter, Michelle (Chris) Green; granddaughter, Amanda Saunders; grandsons, Christopher M. Green Jr., Michael Green, Cody (Kayla) Green, Aarius Saunders, Isaiah Saunders, and Isaac Saunders; adopted grandson, Andrew Thurman; great-grandchildren, Blair Thurman, Logann Green, and Camdyn Green (due May 2021); and a host of saints and friends including special friend, Brenda Thomas.
