Ralph Whatley

Ralph Whatley was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 13, 1952 to William and Louise Whatley.  He departed this life on October 19, 2019 while at Buckeye Terrace Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.  He graduated from East High School and while attending there, he played clarinet and enjoyed wrestling.  In his earlier years, Ralph was employed with Lutheran Senior City and later received his associate degree to become a carpenter.   After many years of carpentry, he was blessed to retire at the age of 50, but he continued to do odd jobs.  Throughout his tenure of life, Ralph devoted his time mentoring young people.  He wanted to empower them to be successful, to never give up and pursue their dreams in life. Ralph used his skills to help family members and others in need.  He would solicit a task force of friends who were mechanics, carpenters, electricians to assist him in helping others.   He loved jogging throughout his neighborhood and the park.  He was always doing research studies on health conditions, various medications, and healthy lifestyle remedies.  We labeled him as "Dr. Ralph."  He was a man with a great sense of humor, a selfless, giving spirit, and a big heart!  He will indeed be missed! He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise Whatley.   Ralph leaves to cherish his memory, brother Jasper (Myong Cha) Whatley of Tacoma, Washington; sisters, Helen (Robert) Tatum, Mary (John) Goins, Juanita Whatley, Carolyn Whatley and Debbie Whatley, all of Columbus, Ohio; stepson Antwan White; stepdaughter Re'Na Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
