A Glimpse of HIStory
In Columbus Ohio, on October 6, 1956, RALPH E. WOODS JR began his sojourn in life, He was the first child born to Ralph E. Woods Sr and Carol Jean Woods.
His grandparents raised him from five days old until his eighteenth birthday. At five years old, his grandmother taught him how to cook his first egg. He liked cooking so much that he later created a Bar B Clue recipe that he would prepare for family and friends.
As a child growing up, Ralph enjoyed playing football and basketball and roller-skating.
The family attended Mt Herman Baptist Church in Columbus Ohio. Ralph was baptized in 1969 by Rev S.R. Doughty. Each Sunday, he and his family would attend service. As surprising as it may be to many, Ralph was a junior usher and a member of the junior choir. Of course, that was at the prodding of his grandparents.
He went to Linden McKinley high School. Upon turning eighteen, he informed his grandparents that he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked four years at Pittsburg Steel, and then went to Contra Costa County Public works as a custodian; he transferred to the road maintenance division as a laborer. Ralph maintained an incredible work ethic, worked his way through the ranks, and eventually retired as a supervisor.
Ralph married his high school sweetheart Rosa Glass in 1992. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycle riding and spending time with all their grandchildren.
Ralph and Rosa joined Living Springs Christion Fellowship in Oakland California under Pastor John Adams. Ralph became a Deacon and financial officer under Pastor Adams.
After retiring and relocating back to Columbus, they attended New Birth Christian Fellowship (Bishop Kenneth E. Moore Sr.)
Ralph was a long standing member of the (GWRRA) Goldwing Road Riders Association Motorcycle group.
