Rebecca Carolyn (Evans) Fadis, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Monday September 25th 2017 at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital. Rebecca was born in Bryan, Texas on August 8th 1944 to the union of Fred Sr. and Elizabeth (McCall) Evans. In 1954, the family moved to Worthington, Ohio where she attended the local public schools. Later, the family moved to Columbus where she completed her formal education graduating from Central High School in 1962. In 1968 Rebecca graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics with a minor in Business and Sociology. While at The Ohio State University she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In 1955, she joined the Shiloh Baptist Church. During her high school and college years, she sang in Shiloh’s Youth Choir. During her college years, she volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher at the Brentnell Extension of Shiloh Baptist Church and taught for 5 years. At the Brentnell Extension of Shiloh Baptist Church, she volunteered every summer for the Vacation Bible School where she taught and organized activities for children. She loved all kinds of music, sports and dancing. After graduating from The Ohio State University Rebecca was hired by Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company as a Home Economist. After leaving Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company she worked in various positions in marketing and sales from 1975 – 2014. These include Fidelity Mortgage Company, Comp-U-Card International, Macloud Financial, Ohio State Department of Taxation and Franklin County Welfare Department. She received various awards in marketing, sales and business including Top 20 Sales Group at Macloud Financial, Sales Frequent Performer Award and Sales Superstar Award at Comp-U-Card International. Rebecca was a member of the following organizations including American Home Economics Association, Franklin County Home Association and was a council member of The Ohio State Home Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by parents Fred Evans Sr. and Elizabeth (McCall) Evans, brother Fred Evans Jr. sister Rubye (Evans) Seward. She is survived by four children, Shurice J. Fadis, Romelle W. Fadis, Shanna J. Fadis, and Raymond (Sylwia) J. Fadis; grandchildren, Etienne Edith-Ray Fadis, Seikou C. Fadis, Carolyn M. Fadis, and Ewelina B. Fadis; brothers, Howard G. Evans and James E. Evans; sister, Helen B (Evans) Ramsaran; sisters-in-law, Iola Evans and Bernice (Donald) Stewart ; her brother-in-law, Norman (Barbara) Fadis; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins both in Texas and Ohio as well as other relatives.
