Reverend Joshua Johnson, age 70, went home to the Lord Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born March 31, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Nora L. (Jones) Johnson. He earned a Bachelor and Master of Biblical Studies at the Zion Bible Institute of Rhode Island (1966); Methodist Theological Seminary (1991); and Pontifical College Josephinum (1992) in Ohio. He had been employed by the Philadelphia Board of Education and the Worthington Christian Academy before receiving his call to serve as Pastor with the West Ohio Conference, United Methodist Church, for more than 19 years. Before his retirement, he served as Pastor to the Big Wesley UMC in Toledo, OH; Shepard UMC and Hilltop UMC in Columbus, OH; and Big Spring, Harper, and Rushylvania, in the Bellefontaine, OH area. Rev. Johnson is predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Thomas, William, Phillip, Phyllis, Darnell, and Douglass. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Carolyn M. (Campbell) Johnson; 4 children, Joshua M.G. (Danica), Lisa D., Caleb J.-Kalyb, and Joel O.T.; 5 grandchildren, Demetrius L., Joshua I., Gabriel I., Jianna G., and Brian W.; 2 sisters, Henrietta (Dewitt) Wilson and Constance James; a brother, Sylvester Joseph Johnson; in-laws, Tomlin Campbell, Florine Strong, Shirley (John) Green, George (Geraldine) Campbell, Edgar (Lynn) Campbell, Vivia Nicholes, Linda White, and many relatives, true friends, and congregations he served as a shepherd.
