Davis DeClouet, was born Tuesday, September 5, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of Davis L. and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) DeClouet. On Saturday, November 3, 2018, he heeded the Master’s call at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was graduate of O. Perry Walker High School on the west bank of Orleans Parish in Algiers, New Orleans, Class of 1967. He relocated to Columbus, Ohio to attended Capital University Conservatory of Music. Later, he attended the Eastern Union Bible College for three years, where he studied Old Testament Theology, New Testament Theology and Preaching of the Gospel. On March 2, 1974, Davis united in holy matrimony with Susan Snook and they spent 44 wonderful and adventuresome years together. Davis was employed by many companies until he established his own business in 1994, Giddy-Up Go Termite and Pest Control. On November 11, 1990, Pastor DeClouet was licensed to preach the Gospel under Pastor Irvin Richardson (I. R) Witcher and served under him at Jerusalem Tabernacle Baptist Church for two years. He was also a member of New Zion Baptist Church under Pastor Benjamin (BJ) Washington for 19 years and served as a Deacon and as Sunday School Superintendent. The Reverend Davis DeClouet was the Pastor of At the Cross Baptist Church located at 2230 Mock Road in Columbus, where in 2011 he was lead by God to plant a church, and was ordained on September 29th. There he established At the Cross Baptist Church Evangelistic Christian Ministries with a mission that reaches out to the lost, to those who have never been inside of the church in their life, or are first and second generation of not knowing the Lord. This calling was challenging, yet very rewarding and he thanked God daily for his special assignment. Pastor DeClouet loved the Lord and his goal was to be the best he can be for God, and be what God wanted him to be on any given day. He considered it is an honor and privilege to preach and teach God’s word and to be the example God had set before him by giving his best for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Davis had a winning smile, a booming baritone voice and was loved by everyone he encountered. He was always ready to assist any worship service with perfect pitch renderings of songs, especially his favorite, Walk Around Heaven and give words of comforting encouragement.
