Richard James Hayes

Richard James Hayes was born September 13, 1965 in Columbus, OH. He was the third child born to the union of Lillie and James Hayes. Richard went home to glory on January 12, 2011. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Lillie and James Hayes. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Gena (Glover) Hayes, children Taren (Sharon Holloway), Ciera and Brandan Hayes, sisters - Savannah Hayes-Shehey, Mary (David) Hayes-Ross, brothers – John Hayes and Dwayne Hayes, brothers-in-law – Shawn (Wendy) Jones and Dwan Jones, sister-in-law – Angela (Malik) Glover-Watkins, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Richard was a graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. He also attended Columbus State Community College. While working his first job at McDonalds, he met the love of his life – Gena. He never quite looked at hamburgers the same again. They were always together and the love between them grew for a lifetime. Richard was an avid car buff. When he worked on cars, he took lemons and made lemonade. He was a member of the Elite Car Club and was the “go to” man for anyone with any automobile questions or issues. He was truly in his element when he was talking about or working on cars. He passed his legacy of cars onto his son Brandan. Richard was very resourceful. If you had an issue and took it to him he would work it out for you. If he was not able to help you personally, he would definitely find someone that would work it out for you. He was a very lovable person with a big heart. If you needed something and he had it, you had it. Richard will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. If you were blessed to have known him in your lifetime, you were truly blessed.
