Richard Russell Lewis, Sr. started his earthly journey on October 22, 1919, in Dayton, Ohio. On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, his earthly journey was fulfilled. He was a long standing member of both Miller Avenue Church of Christ and Watkins Road Church of Christ. Retired from The Ohio State University Medical Center, Richard found enjoyment as an artist and avid Cleveland Browns fan. In his youth, he was a Golden Gloves champion and later boxed as a professional welterweight prize fighter. Above all, he was a great father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Preceded in death by his wife Margaret A. Lewis, sons Richard R. Lewis, Jr. and Anthony Yu Swuf Lewis. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Jasmine P. Lewis (Wallace McLean), Phyllis (Alan) Moore, Gail Lewis, all of Columbus, Ohio, Sandra (James) Canady of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Weusi (Carlton) Kennebrew of Atlanta, Georgia; son Michael (Marty) Lewis of Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law Mrs. Betty Rice of Gahanna, Ohio; special grandchildren who shared in taking care of him in his time of need, Kevin D. Lewis, Emanuel W. Lewis and Shafee Y. Robinson; 32 grandchildren and a host of great- and great-great-¬grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life 12 noon, Monday, September 19, 2011 at Watkins Road Church of Christ, 1614 Watkins Road, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the start of service. Elder Arthur Broomfield, Sr., officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
