Richard Percy Harris departed this life and was received in the arms of Jesus, on Sunday, July 28, 1948. He was born to Florence Harris, and John Wyche, in Delaware, Ohio. He was preceded in death by Daughter Sonya Harris, Parents Florence Harris and John Wyche, Sister Elizabeth Harris, and Brothers William Harris, James Harris, and Lester Harris. Richard grew up in a small community called Burnside Heights, on the Westside of Columbus, Ohio. He was a born athlete having spent his youth playing neighborhood sports. He later attended Franklin Heights High School and graduated in 1965. He made All American in Football and Track and Field, and then later went on to play Semi-Professional Football in Columbus, Ohio He was an active member of Burnside Church, where he was very involved with organizing events and activities. He also played an important role in organizing community events such as The Burnside Heights Reunion. Employed at American Electric Power in the earlier part of his life, where he was a Lineman. He then later worked at Franklin International of Columbus, Ohio. Richard had such a large personality; it was hard not to see it. His personable mannerism allowed him to strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a known Storyteller, whom left you wondering if his stories were fact or fiction. Richard is survived by children, Aletha (Robert) Williams, Cols, Oh, Ricardo Harris, Cols, OH, Kip (Nicole) Harris, Cols. OH., Rita (Darrel) Hall, Tampa FL., Rochelle (Cecil) Wiseman, Cols, OH. Dhata(Nikita) Harris, Atlanta, GA. and Tasha Callender, Cols. Oh. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, Bernice Brown, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, long time special friend Paulette Callendar, and Mothers of his Children. He will be deeply and truly missed by Family, Friends, and All that knew him.
