Rinson Mcclendon

May 24, 1952 — October 11, 2023

God’s Plan is Perfect

Rinson L. McClendon, 71 of Westerville, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on October

11, 2023. He was born on May 24, 1952, in Dothan, Alabama to the late Emma Lee McClendon

and Leroy McClendon. Rinson graduated from East High School in Akron, Ohio where he

excelled in both football and basketball. He loved to remind us that he was invited to try out for

the Houston Rockets! Rinson enlisted in the Army in 1972 and served until he was honorably

discharged in 1975. He went on to receive his Associate Degree from Columbus State

Community College.

With his accomplished and tenacious attitude, he began working in the computer science

industry at AEP and continued his career with the State of Ohio Job and Family Services

Department until he retired in 2012. His motto was," don't retire, rewire". He took his passion for

computers and processing and coupled it with his hobby of videography to create a successful

and lucrative business, Captured Forever Video and Photo Productions. Rinson was always

prepared to capture and document some of life's most treasured moments both professionally

and personally. He taught us that if you stay ready, you won't have to get ready.

Rinson loved to travel throughout the country and the world, with Florida being one of his

favorite travel destinations. Destin, Florida allowed him to combine his love for the beach and

basking in the sun, with his love for jazz. He was known to annually attend the Seabreeze Jazz

Festival, where we would dance, sing and have a ball. For anyone who really knew Rinson, you

would know how much he loved Disney World and Mickey Mouse. He prided himself on being

first among travelers when the Animal Kingdom opened. Through this passion, we were able to

experience and witness his inner child and lightheartedness.

Diligence, planning, and wisdom were some of Rinson's greatest attributes. His ability to literally

assemble or disassemble anything with an on/off switch was amazing to watch. He could open

a package with such care and precision, you didn't even realize it had been touched. He read the

operator's manual front to back before he would take the item out of the box. To say that

Rinson was frugal is an understatement, as witnessed by the check for .02 hanging in his office

from an overpayment to the IRS! His money management skills provided his family with

blessings and benefits that we will continue to reap. He was always determined to get the best

product or service at the absolute lowest cost. Even with his known frugality, he was a generous

giver to his family and friends and to charity. His favorite charities were Faith Mission Homeless

Shelter and Boys Town Boys and Girls Club.

Rinson was a role model and mentor to many, always willing to share his wisdom and

knowledge with those who would listen whether it was His family, his employees and countless

other young people who he met along life's way. He really enjoyed going to the Barber College

to speak with the young men who affectionately called him "The Professor."

From the beginning of this fight with cancer, Rinson always said "God's Plan is Perfect." He

fought the good fight, and finished his course and kept the faith until the end. He will truly be

missed in so many ways.

Preceded in death by his parents and beloved siblings, Ann Odom, Shelby McClendon, Nancy
