Rita Diane Constant Green

RITA DIANE CONSTANT-GREEN was born Friday, May 6, 1949, in McDowell County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Will Ward and Edith Murrell Constant. As a youth, Rita attended the McDowell Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and learned how to play the piano by ear. She continued to play for the church choir many years. In 1968, Rita graduated from Northfolk High School (McDowell County, West Virginia) where she sang in the Glee Club. Following graduation, Rita immediately, like the next day, left for Chagrin Falls, Ohio and began her career as a nurse aid at Maria Nursing Home. She later, pursued a career in cooking, which was one of her passions. Rita worked many years as a cook at the Raintree restaurant. There, she met Mr. Vernon R. Green and was united in holy matrimony on October 23, 1982, in Warrensville, Ohio. Rita traveled to Germany to spend time with her son, David, and his family. While she enjoyed Germany, she expressed her joy to be back in the USA! Eventually, Rita relocated to Columbus, Ohio, to be closer to her family, where she wore the title as aunt, but was revered as a mother by many. Rita departed this life on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at home with her family. She was seventy-two years of age. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon R. Green; brother, Willie Jack Leftwich; sister, Phyllis Constant; sister-in-law, Myong Leftwich; nephews, Rodney Leftwich and Kevin Darnell Constant Jr. Rita leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, David (Mandy) Constant; grandchildren, Adam Cain Constant, Xavier D’Angelo Myers, and Taesha Kyarra Myers, all of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany; brothers, Roger Leftwich of Killeen, Texas, Stanley Constant, Jeffrey (Sandra) Constant, and Darrell (Meika) Patterson, all of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Deborah (Thaddeus) Stockton, Clintonia Constant, Shelia (Ricky) Lopez, and Tammy (Chris) Grant; step-parents, Robert and Mary Patterson, all of Columbus, Ohio; special nephews and nieces, Fred Rondo Jr., Kevin Darnell Constant, Sharone Constant, Tracy (Jesse) Hunter, Yolanda Constant, Edith Constant, Daziray Constant, Dezire Constant, Tabatha (Jan) Rucker, Sheila (Sirlister) Campbell, Tracy Leftwich, and Tomie Walters; sister-in-law, Pauline Leftwich; special cousins, Scuchie Thompson, William Washington, Bruce Constant, Doris Dorsey, and Denise Constant; many other family members and loving friends.
